Get online support after crime with My Support Space.
We know experiencing crime or a traumatic event can be overwhelming. You may not know where to turn or know what support is available. But you are not alone.
We’ve designed My Support Space to help you feel more informed after crime, to reflect on your feelings, and give you simple tips to support yourself during a difficult time.
App features:
Easy to understand articles broken down into three distinct sections:
• Rights and information: Navigating the criminal justice system can be confusing. We explain your rights and the support available if your case goes to court.
• My wellbeing: Experiencing crime can affect your mental health and emotional wellbeing. We have simple tips and techniques for you to try.
• The crime type I’ve experienced: Crime-specific information to help you move forward.
Clear, helpful animations that explain difficult information, or guide you through simple exercises and tips to cope.
The ability to save articles to revisit them later.
If you want to talk with one of Victim Support’s trained advisors, you can start a live chat.
Links to other specialist support services and useful resources you may find helpful as you move forward from your experience of crime.
To help keep you secure:
• You’re in control. We’ll only ask you to create an account if you want to save any articles to your profile.
• If you need to quickly exit the app for your safety, there’s a clear option to log out and close the app with a quick tap.
• Unsure this app is genuinely from Victim Support? You can call our Supportline on 08 08 16 89 111 to check.
Who is this suitable for?
• Anyone aged 16 or over who has been affected by crime or a traumatic event. It doesn’t matter when the crime took place, nor whether you’ve reported to the police or not. Victim Support is independent of the police.
• The app is particularly suited to people who want to access online support in their own time. And for those who may not want, or be ready, to seek support over the phone or in-person.
• Witnesses of crime - and those supporting a victim/survivor of crime and are looking for information - may also find the app helpful.
